The harbour at nearby Los Gigantes is the departure point for numerous boat
trips out to see the dolphin and whale colonies which live between the west
coast of Tenerife and the neighbouring island of La Gomera. These trips offer
superb value for money compared to those offered by the large tour operators,
and you will be almost guaranteed a free child place along with the offer of a
free trip next day if you don't see anything.
Built locally in Alcala, in the style of a Pirate Ship using the African and
Brazilian wood Morera, Flipper Uno sails from the harbour at Los Gigantes along
the cliffs of Los Gigantes and Masca. After a short break for a swim, lunch is
served offering a traditional paella dish based on chicken breast and vegetables
with bread and a piece of fruit. Contact details for more information are:

Based at the harbour at Los Gigantes, Nashira Uno is a custom built motor
catamaran. Built in 1995 she is 14 metres long and 5 metres in the beam. The
design of the vessel is such that it reduces the possibility of sea-sickness
therefore allowing those with weaker "sea legs" to join in on the excursions.
She has a sun deck as well as a lower shaded deck and also has two glass
bottomed panels that allow the guests to marvel at the amount of marine life.
Departing from Los Gigantes Marina at 11:00 and 13:00 each day for a 2 hour
excursion, the "Gladiator U" is fast and provides a thrilling trip to see the
whales and dolphins. Her speed makes it possible to see the whales at much
greater distances than many of the other boats. She was built in 2005 is 12
metres long and has a beam of 3.5 metres is powered by 2 x 315HP Yanmar diesel
engines.
Punta Umbria offers visitors to Los Gigantes the opportunity to catch a variety
of game and sea fish that live in the waters around Tenerife, including Yellow
fin tuna, bonito, blue marlin, wahoo and dorado. Crewed by local fishermen,
Punta Umbria is a classic sport fishing yacht, offering a selection of both 3,
4, and 7 hour excursions.
Over 16 and "feel the need for speed?", then an excursion along the west coast
of Tenerife by Jet Ski will bound to appeal. A short 1hour trip covering around
30 km will take you along the cliffs of Los Gigantes and the bay of Masca, for
the more experience rider the 2 hour, 60 km trip, heads towards the island’s
edge called Punta de Teno, visiting the water grottos, the bay of Masca, with a
short stop to swim in the crystal clear waters with a diver tug, and finally the
ultimate 3 hour, 80 km trip, visits the bay of Masca, then on course to Costa
Adeje, riding along the coast to La Caleta and back to Los Gigantes to enjoy a
typical Canarian meal. Contact details for more information and booking are:
