Markets in Menorca provide the ideal place to purchase some original Menorcan
products. In these picturesque, colourful and multi-ethnologic places you'll
find nearly everything, from basic food produce to the ultimate fashion trend,
all in a familiar relaxed atmosphere.
Most winter markets on the island are held in the morning, and summer ones in
the evening, but whenever you visit you'll need to get there early and be
prepared to haggle like a professional to secure the best bargains.
A couple of words of advice, do not start to negotiate if you have no intention
of buying, but do not be afraid to say no and walk away if the prices do not
fall to a level that you are prepared to pay for an item. Common sense we know,
but still easy to forget.
Every Monday and Wednesday morning throughout the year, a colourful street
market is held in nearby Sant Lluis, offering for sale a selection of locally
produced fruit, vegetables and crafts along with a selection of other Menorcan
products including flowers and clothes etc.
During July and August each year, with the increased numbers of visitors to the
island, a further craft market is also held on the Cos de Sant Lluis on a
Thursday evening from around 18.00 hours to midnight.
Again during the summer months, from June to mid September each year a small
craft market also takes places on the Passeig de s’Arenal in Punta Prima every
Monday, Wednesday, Thursday and Sunday evening from 18.00 to 23.00
