The resort of Illetas has a small public beach beneath the low cliffs, which can
become very busy during the summer months. Also in keeping with the exclusivity
of the town, a number of the hotels here have their own private beaches which
are reserved for the use of their guests.
This area of south west Majorca around Illetas is well served with golf courses,
the nearest being either Bendinat or Son Vida. An organisation based in Magaluf
called "Mallorca Golf Connection", are the official TUI Thomson golf booking
agency for the island, and can organise tee-off times, transport to and from the
courses and discounted green fees. Contact details are:

Nightlife here tends to be quite sophisticated, and mostly hotel based. You
won't find clubs with Foam Parties that open to the early hours of the morning,
or Karaoke Bars either. Illetas just isn't like that.
There is excellent public transport from Illetas into nearby Palma. The bus
service runs every 15 - 20 minutes, but having seen some of the very nice cars
that are parked in the resort, I'm somewhat surprised that the bus is ever used.
Other than the everyday basics of life, there are surprisingly few shops in the
town, with most visitors appearing to prefer the sophisticated designer label
outlets in nearby Palma. Although the city of Palma is the commercial and
cultural centre of Majorca, the depth of history, culture and nightlife there
often takes visitors by surprise. The easiest way to "see Palma in a day" is by
the Number 50 sightseeing bus, which runs on average every 20 minutes throughout
the day, and takes in all the major sights of the city. In common with most City
Tour buses around Europe, you can hop on and off the bus at any point, and
tickets are valid for a 24 hour period. The total journey time for the round
trip is 1 hour 20 minutes. For more information their contact details are:

If you've visited Majorca before, you may recognise that nearby Portals Nous as
being the home of Marineland. This is one of the most popular family attractions
on the island, and is often included in the major tour operators organised day
trips. As a result, it can become very busy during the peak season. Once inside
the park you will find performing dolphins, sealions, and parrot shows
throughout the day. As far as we are aware these are the only captive dolphins
on the island, and frequently we are asked "can we swim with them?". Again as
far as we are aware, the answer is sadly no. During the show a number of small
children are picked at random to be pulled around their pool in a small
inflatable dinghy, but outside of the show times the public are not allowed
access to these beautiful creatures. Opening hours are:
April to September: from 9am to 7pm
October to March: from 10am to 6pm
A visit to Marineland is often included in all of the major tour operators
organised day trips, and it can become very busy during the peak season. For

One of the most popular evening attractions with all nationalities in the south
of the island is the Pirates Adventure (Els Pirates), which is based on the
outskirts of Magaluf. It takes the form of a Dinner/Show with a pirate theme,
and has short dialogues in English throughout. The season commences early April
and runs through until the end of October, with performances most evenings. In
addition to the family show, there is also a special late night adults only
"Pirates Uncut" performance. Contact details for more information and bookings
