Below are listed the local events, fiestas and public holidays that we are aware of. Most fiestas will normally take place on the same dates each year, however, the programme of events is often not finalised until a few days beforehand:

January	1	New Years Day - Public Holiday
	5	The arrival of the Three Kings and worship of the baby Jesus.
	6	Feast of The Epiphany - Public Holiday
	16-17	Fiesta of Sant Antoni Abat the patron saint of animals. The event begins with the lighting of small bonfires, which the local residents sit around and sing traditional songs and roast "botifarrons", which are locally made blood sausages. The following day there is a colourful parade culminating in the blessing of the animals in front of the local parish Church.
March	1	Balearics Day - Public Holiday
Lent		The Carnival Fiestas begin on the Thursday before Lent (Dijous Llarder), and continue until Ash Wednesday (Dimecres de Cendra) with street parades and fancy-dress parties all over the island.
Easter		Traditional processions and parades take place.
May	1	May Day - Public Holiday
		The Medieval Market is held at Capdepera Castle on the third weekend of May.
July	16	Fiesta of the Mare de Deu del Carme at Cala Ratjada. Along with the usual selection of parades and musical events, this Fiesta also includes a maritime procession in honour of the Patron Saint of seafarers and fishermen.
August	15	Ascension Day - Public Holiday
	16	Fiesta of Sant Roc. This is a very popular event for children, with many of the parades and activities set to appeal to their generation.
	24	Fiesta of Sant Bartomeu at Capdepera. During the day along with the normal parades and activities, horse races are also held, however, it is in the evening when night falls that the crowds arrive to see the "night of fire". From around 10pm onwards the cafes all remove their outdoor tables from the towns main square, and crowds of tourists and local arrive to watch a spectacular fireworks display. In previous years the crowds have also been entertained by a group called the "Iguana Teatre", who dress as demons, who dance through the crowds waving long sticks of sparkling fire. For young children the event may be a little to scary, but for everyone else it's an opportunity to dance and enjoy themselves.
October	12	Fiesta Nacional de Espana - Public Holiday
		Fiesta de Llampuga, also known as the golden mackerel. This is a 3 day event held at Cala Ratjada on the second weekend of October each year. You have the opportunity to try the fish, coked by various restaurants and hotels. You will relax and dine under tents, put up especially for the festival.
November	1	All Saints Day - Public Holiday
December	6	Constitution Day - Public Holiday
	8	Immaculate Conception - Public Holiday
	18	Fiesta of the Mare de Deu de l'Esperanca at Capdepera. Most if not all visitors to Majorca miss this annual event where along with the parades and folk dances, meat is roasted over bonfires.
	25	Christmas Day - Public Holiday
	26	St Stephen Day - Public Holiday
